background: 1 - original universe; Grown up in an upperclass environment with all doors open wide, Rainier decided to pursue politics and studied political science at a private university in Paris. Here he went on to work as a lobbyist and later advisor to several major political parties in French Parliament. At the age of 40-ish, he met the young, aspiring politician, Claude Bérubé, and took him in as his charge, the mentor-mentée relationship soon turning sexual and/or romantic. The relationship lasted several years, until Claude broke it off with him to pursue his own goals on the political stage and because Rainier had willfully set Claude's parents up to lose their fortune in a scandal-ridden social project. 2 - Star Wars universe; pretty much same history. Rainier is the advisor to the young Prince, Claude, who is a figurehead for the planet's old way of government, but openly supports rebel ideology. They had a sexual relationship for almost five years, until Claude's parents were killed in an assassination orchestrated by Rainier and his men.
